30,000 Baby Seals Dead 340,000 To Die
Ireland, Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain are very much against the slaughter and imports of seal products, UK is against the slaughter but allows seal imports into the UK.
In a few weeks time it is hoped that the whole European Union will vote against baby seal killing and seal imports.
Canada is becoming increasingly more isolated as they continue to support the cruel painful slaughter of over 340,000 baby seals on the ice. Canada's members of parliment are receiving thousands and thousands of emails condeming the killings. The majority of every day Canadian people condem the horrific baby seal killing, where the fur is ripped off the baby seals whilst they are still alive.
Senator MacHarb has stood up against the cruel slaughter of baby seals, but the other politicians are obedient to the party and ignore the voice of the people who voted the party in.
The way to destroy the seal industry, is to destroy the market for seal products.
Demonstrations are taking place around the world, telling Canada to stop killing innocent baby seals NOW!

Canada's Magdalen Islands Quota Full But Still Killing Seals
The quota for seal killing has been reached for the Magdalen Islands but the cruel seal killers 8 in all, found a group of baby seals learning to swim, they smashed the heads of every single one, using Hakapiks (a nail at the end of a stick). The seal killers were whistling and singing whilst they were stabbing the heads of baby seals with the nail sticks.
Another 1000 seals were killed and skinned alive today. Their furless bodies left to wriggle on the ice until they slowly bled to death.
Cruel Canada to Kill Astonishingly 340,000 seals. Canada has just started to kill its first baby seals, the time 6.49 a.m. today, the 24th March 2009.
The new fisheries minister Gail Shea is even worse than the last one, Loyola Hearn. She has added at the flick of a finger, another 50,000 seals to the kill and to include, Grey Seals and Hooded Seals.
The Canadian bureaucrats and the politicians are paid to deny the reality and when asked about the cruel seal slaughter the fisheries ministers usually say, "It is all properly and well managed and humane, and yet the government knows about the bashing out of the brains of the little baby seals, they also know that the baby seals don't have a chance, because they can't even swim and are totally helpless and they have to stay on the ice, or they will drown.
Spike ended clubs are struck into the seals, then there warm little furry coat is ripped off them whilst they are still alive. There bleeding furless bodies are then stock piled on the ice, to rot. The seals scream out in horrific pain, then bleed to death.
When the Canadian ministers are asked: "have you watched the sickening seal Slaughter", their answer is always cowardly NO.
Next month our fingers crossed! Europe it is hoped, will pass a bill banning the imports of all seal products. Seal products have been banned in the USA since 1972 and now President Putin of Russia has banned in his country the slaughtering of baby seals and the Irish parliament has now banned the import of all seal pelts. UK government is against the killing of baby seals in Canada and the Canadian senate, senator MacHarb has drafted a motion to try and end the slaughter, although only the Green party has had the courage to speak out against the killing.
GreenEcoPeace are doing all they can to end the seal killing in Canada. But we are now also faced with seal killing in the UK, particularly amongst the Scottish fishing industry. We are now fighting for a law, to protect our very own seals.
Global warming is now becoming a major factor in the survival of seals, as sea temperatures are rising in the Newfoundland area, the Labrador Shelf off Canada's East Coast and Scotian Shelf. The sea temperatures are rising by a staggering 0.89C to 1.04C, some of the highest temperature rises of anywhere in the world (figures by the Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts and Islands, temperature increases from 1982 - 2006).
The mother seals need the ice flow to have their babies. The baby seals survival depends on the ice until they can swim, or they will drown.
Seals are still having to face slaughter and now the real threat of global warming which could lead to extinction in not so many years to come.
We cannot afford to loose any more seals.
In spring on the East Coast of Canada you will see one of the worlds most beautiful wildlife spectacles. Female Harp Seals gather on newly formed ice to give birth to their pups. The newly born pups are transformed into fat fluffy little snow white pups in just about 1 week. After 12 days the pups remain on the ice and their mums go off to mate again. Then just a few days later this beautiful ice wonderland is transformed into a factory for unimaginable killing of baby seals and seals. Inhuman sealer slaughterers, descend on the seals in boats, helicopters and snowmobiles, all armed with nailed clubs and guns and with one thing in mind, Money and the wholesale slaughter of seals.
The horrific slaughter of these beautiful gentle seals and their babies for their fur, is nothing else but horrific and barbaric and believe it or not it is authorised by the Canadian Government.
If you knew how these lovable seals suffered, it would tear your heart out. Most of the seals that have been struck by a lethal nailed club are wounded, they are then dragged to a killer seal ship where they are mostly skinned alive. Others are ruthlessly shot in the water, mostly injured and then dragged by hooks onto the ice, this is done by men with no conscious and no mercy. The seals try in vane to get away, they struggle, their little flippers anxiously wriggling from side to side, they try to get away from the knife that is just about to rip open their throats and then slowly remove their skins. Their cry for help you would remember forever and then the sudden stillness, you would never ever forget.
Over the last 3 years a staggering, approximately 1 million of these innocent seals, have been slaughtered for money!

Humanity Causes 50 Billion Tons Of CO2 Yearly Serious!
Professor Chris Rapley who previously ran the British Antarctic Survey said, "Humanity was emitting the equivalent of 50 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere every year", he also said that "we have to cut this by 80% and the population growth is going to make this much harder".
There is a call by experts of OPT to try and reduce the British population to around 30 million, for a better life for all, approximately to what it was in Victorian Times, then the country can feed itself sustainably.
Phil Woolas, the Immigration Minister, said: "You can't have sustainability with an increase in population".
Jonathon Porritt, one of Gordon Brown's leading Green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.
Porritt will speak at this weeks annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), to which Porritt is patron.
Porritt also said: "population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure".
However, Jonathon Porritt is winning scientific backing. Professor Chris Rapley, director of the Science Museum, will use the OPT conference, to be held at the Royal Statically Society, to warn that population growth could help derail attempts to cut Green House gas emissions.
Britain's population will grow, it is believed, from 61 million now, to over 70 million by 2031.
Apparently the Chinese as an example, implemented restrictions on their population, now China is on a better road and has become a more sustainable and prosperous nation, it now has to deal with it's CO2 problems.
One spokesman said, "that if too many people jump into a life boat, it may sink. But if everything was thought out properly earlier, there would be no need for a sinking ship". A spokesman also said, "more people on a small island like the UK, it makes sense, that there will be a huge increase in CO2 and Green House gas emissions, less people less CO2 and Green House gases".

Evidence Of Illegal Porpoise Killing Mutilated Thrown Back Into Sea
An increasing number of mutilated carcasses of Harbour porpoises, on average 1.50 meters in length, have washed up on beaches in recent months at Texel, an island north east of the Dutch mainland. According to Just van den Broek, Director at the marine protection centre Eco mare, the killings of the animals found in recent months can be attributed to fishing vessels which operated along the Dutch coast over the winter period.
It is a worrying development that fishermen kill and cut the porpoises out of their nets, instead of cutting the nets around the animals to free them from being trapped. However, it is nothing new that those operating fishing vessels will often choose cheaper and easier methods of getting rid of so called 'by catch' in order to protect their investments and profits. Many, if not all, will escape prosecution as authorities are reluctant to enforce the appropriate laws and regulations which are supposed to protect the sea mammals.
In the last 3 months, over 100 killed harbour porpoises have washed up on Dutch beaches, compared to a total of 46 in all of 2008. About half of those found were cut up and/or had been mutilated. Some reports say carcasses had the intestines cut out, apparently in an effort to make them sink to the bottom of the sea quicker and hide the evidence of the illegal activity.
The Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) has corresponded with the Dutch Minister for Fisheries and the Environment about the situation, and some of the Dutch press has covered the illegal activity. It is clear that such an alarming situation as this needs a quick and concise response in order to put a stop to it. International agreements as well as Dutch law give clear opportunities for prosecution of those responsible.
Dutch authorities have said they are taking this issue seriously.
GreenEcoPeace and other organisations will continue to monitor this situation and investigate further where needed to ensure these beautiful creatures get the justice they deserve.

IWC Meeting In Rome
Is William Hogarth, U.S.A sucking Jap Lollipops? The United States do not negotiate with terrorists and the USA should be on their guard when negotiating with nations such as Japan, who kill endangered and threatened great whales and in an established whale sanctuary, the Antarctic Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, under the deceitful pretence of Scientific Research. It is well known that the Japanese whaling industry is surrounded by criminal activity! This week in Rome there will be a meeting of member nations of the International Whaling Commission, who will be discussing a proposal by William Hogarth of the USA, who incidentally is the Chair of the International Whaling Commission. He will propose that Japan should be allowed to slaughter illegally and agonisingly butcher our endangered great whales in the North Pacific and believe it or not, the USA are making and requesting, that a deal should be done, allowing Japan to slaughter our great whales in the North Pacific in exchange for allowing Japan to slaughter whales in less quantity, in the Antarctic Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. This is the shocking truth. William Hogarth from the USA and Chair of the International Whaling Commission, Sucking Japanese Lollipops and why?
We appeal to member nations of the International Whaling Commission, to vote against this appalling proposal. Nobody has the right to vote on the killing of our god given great whales. These great whales do not belong to man and no one has the right to kill them by exploding out their insides, leaving them to die slowly in great pain, surrounded by their own blood. USA and member nations of the International Whaling Commission, do not suck the sweet tasting lollipops from Japan, they may be just hiding an undetectable poison to late to detect after being LICKED.
We appeal to President Barack Obama to seriously consider the position of William Hogarth as the United States Commissioner to the International Whaling Commission. Hogarth is not the right man, if he can't stand up to the Japanese and he is not the right man, if he can't protect all whales in the Antarctic Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. He is betraying our great mammal friends of the oceans, our prehistoric irreplaceable great whales and all conservationists who are continually fighting to keep our whales alive. Norway, Iceland and Denmark's Kingdom, Greenland, Faroe Isles should have all their whaling operations closed down. If the IWC legalises Japan and other nations to legally butcher our wonderful great whales, the IWC is not fit for purpose.

Crime Fishing Syndicates Scourge Of Our Seas

Crime fishing syndicates are depleting and raping our seas of fish and depriving locals of a living and making them go hungry. One of the worst sufferers is Somalia.
From the islands of the South Pacific, to the coastal countries of West Africa, the illegal fishermen are netting in millions of dollars. These dollars are a much needed income, and rightfully belong to coastal communities. The United Nations estimate that Somalia is loosing approximately £200 million pounds a year to the crime fishing syndicates. Guinea looses approximately £75 million pounds a year and globally the loss, to these crime fishing syndicates, is approximately £3 billion pounds a year.
In contrast, the crime fishing syndicates hide their identity and origin, and ignore the rules and often fly the flags of countries that ask no questions about their fishing. With easy access of computers and for as little as £300, flags can be bought over the internet from countries like Malta, Panama, Belize, Honduras and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
There is little policing of the rogue traders. Governments around the world seem to do little to check their activities, or what is landed in their own ports, despite the various international commitments and plans. The illegal fish is often illegally transferred to factory ships, mixed with legally caught stocks and then knowingly sold in "legate" ports such as Las Palmas and Suva.
The countries that are victims of this mass fish taking, are usually the poorer countries that are less able to enforce the laws, even in their own waters. But the owners of these illegal crime syndicate fishing vessels are not impossible to track down. Approximately there are 80 different countries that allow these illegal vessels into their ports. These include the European Union, Taiwan, Panama, Belize and Honduras. It would not be too difficult to organize international enforcement that could shut down this illegal trade.
Illegal fishing causes global environmental damage from illegal destructive fishing. The fishing techniques that they use, are destroying our ocean life.
The stocks of tuna around Tanzania, Somalia, Papua New Guinea and Tuvalu are targeted each year with giant nets that scoop up the entire shoals, including the young fish vital for breeding and future stock growth.
Bycatch from long line fishing is another major hazard, as is shrimp trawling. Fishermen fill a few small boxes with the targeted catch and tonnes of unwanted fish and sea life are thrown back over the side dead. For every kilo of shrimp landed, over 3 kilos of tropical marine life are caught and die. Shrimp fishing, accounts for between 3 and 4 percent of the worlds fishing industry, but is responsible for over 27 percent of the unnecessary destruction of marine life.
This illegal fishing can be stopped. Governments can outlaw flags of convenience and refuse entry into ports of illegal fishing and supply vessels.
Enforcement is needed to protect the marine environment and the local and coastal communities that depend on it.

Shame On the Australian Government
The Rudd - Garrett government instructs police to raid the Steve Irwin conservation ship, captained by Paul Watston.
The police took all the video's and photo's taken by Animal Planet and all the photo's taken by individuals on board the ship and the log and all the correspondence.
This is the shocking truth. All the crew of the Steve Irwin have risked their lives to help save the great whales and this it the thanks that they get when they dock their ship at Hobart, Australia.

The Fake Japanese Scientific Research, intelligence investigated, commercial Whale Killing Ship, determined to slaughter over 875 Minke whales and over 50 Fin whales. 21st February 2009, the Steve Irwin conservation ship has been out in the Antarctic Southern Ocean helping to save our whales since December 2008. Last week due to the acridity of the Japanese whalers and from our intelligence reports that the Japanese have despatched a Japanese government security vessel called the Taiyo Maru 38, which we understand has on board a specialised team who will try to seize the conservation ship the Steve Irwin and all the video evidence, the Steve Irwin captained by world famous Paul Watson, has decided in order to protect the ship, video's and crew, that it would be better to leave immediately and get back to Australia as soon as possible.
The Steve Irwin has just arrived at Hobart, Australia, only to be raided by the Australian Police on instruction of the Rudd/Garrett government. The crew on board the Farley Mowet, seal conservation ship, last year, were attacked by Canadian special forces, the crew were held at gun point, their radio's smashed and the ship was towed back under force to Nova Scotia where it is still tied up in harbour under security. The conservationists on the Steve Irwin in the Southern Antarctic Ocean, were being violently attacked by the Japanese who were using millitary type acoustic weapons, which caused sickness and possible severe deafness and the Japs were jamming their sea radio's. Stun grenades were also being deployed and the Japs were discharging brass and lead balls at the conservationist's smaller boats. The Japs are now eco-terrorists.
They are attacking humans and discharging rocket grenades into whales in a protected sanctuary. Now there is no one to protect the great whales in the Antarctic Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. The Australians won't and the New Zealanders won't and most other nations just simply protest, they want whaling stopped but they are worried about upsetting the Japanese. We all have to protest about the disgusting behaviour of the Japs to conservationists at sea and killing whales in a whale sanctuary. GreenEcoPeace has seriously emailed other countries, DEFRA and the International whaling Commission (IWC) pointing out their concern. The whale meat will be sold illegally to shops, schools, hospitals and other commercial sources in Japan. The Japanese refuse to answer mail or negotiate with GreenEcoPeace and are breaking Antarctic regulations in full view of the world.
They are also illegally polluting the Antarctic by discharging whales blood into the sea and are illegally refuelling in the Antarctic Southern Ocean.

Whales Stranded In Tasmania
Australian authorities are working hard to save Pilot whales and a small pod of dolphins which have beached on the island.
The mammals have stranded themselves on King Island between the main land and the southern state of Tasmania.
Approximately 140 out of approximately 200 whales have already died.
More than 400 whales have died in the Tasmanian waters in recent months and still there is no explanation why this happens.
The 194 Pilot whales and several Bottlenose dolphins, became stranded on Naracoopa Beach on King Island late Sunday evening.
54 whales and 7 dolphins were still alive.
Reports say, what is a mystery, is that some will survive for days.
Pilot whales are fairly robust animals and experience from the past shows that whilst they are alive, there is a good chance of survival.
The rescue was helped by local residents who tried to keep the animals wet and were working out ways on how to move them out to the open sea. Over 100 King Island residents volunteered to help in the rescue.
Over 150 Pilot whales have died after beaching themselves on Tasmania's remote west coast in Novemeber and 48 Sperm whales died in January, on sand bar off Perkins Island.
In both Australia and New Zealand from time to time mass strandings occur as the whales migrate to and from Antarctic waters. It is not clear why they do this.
There are many theories as to why the whales and dolphins may beach, some say, it is interferance from sound produced by human activities at sea.
