Sherwood Forest Nottingham

There has been major complaints that Sherwood Forest, Nottingham is not being properly managed. Both the amazing Oak Trees, some 1000 years old and the general condition of the forest is suffering. This is a very important forest taking in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen and it is steeped in history.

Iza Banton a ranger in Sherwood Forest, advises that they have applied for a £50,000,000 lottery grant, to get the forest back to where it should be.

We wish them luck when appling to the lottery fund for their £50,000,000.

Norwegian Whaling Ship Sunk

A Norwegian whaling vessel the Willassen Senior was scuttled (sunk) on 31st August 2007 in the northern city harbour of Svolvaer in the Lofoten Islands. This ship was being prepared to search for and slaughter endangered whales. Apparently a conservation group called Agenda 21 who love and defend whales heard about the ship and sank it.

It appears that the whaling ship the Willassen Senior was in the harbour at the time when the Agenda 21 conservation group boarded the ship and removed the engine cooling pipe causing the ship to sink in the harbour. The Willassen Senior's electrical and mechanical systems were seriously damaged. There was nobody on board at the time of the incident and there was no casualties.

The vessel is reported to be beyond repair and was not insured. The ship Willassen Senior was operating in defiance of the International Conservation Law. If this ship had gone out to sea many endangered whales would have agonisingly and painfully lost their lives.
